Ave Julie Scott

It is with some concern that I note that your order is issuing cease and desist letters against those esoteric orders using the words the “Rosicrucian Order” The latest case was The Rosicrucian Order of the Golden Dawn which has neither the will nor the legal muscle to defend itself.

While I accept that your order has the right to trademark its name and its variations it morally does not have the right to identify itself as “The Rosicrucian Order.” There are many other Rosicrucian Orders with a pedigree equal to and possibly greater than A.M.O.R.C. In the historical line of my own group, the term “Rosicrucian Order” has been part of our secret Second Order work since 1890.

Rosicrucianism is based on the reformation of the world through the transformation of the individual. Issuing law-suits against other Rosicrucian Orders who are engaged in the same spiritual reformation is counter-productive to your over-all cause and mission. It is isolating you from the allies which give your work meaning.

In America particularly, the law courts have been used to shut down important spiritual work conducted by esoteric groups who have the misfortune of sharing similar names. Mysticism and esoteric work should never be about trademarks, in Rosicrucianism true groups are created by an inner impulse of the Secret College, not mortals.

To appeal to secular courts to define what is and what is not a Rosicrucian is against what is written in the Fama where indeed even the profession of one’s self as a Rosicrucian is an anathema.
A.M.O.R.C. is part of a wider esoteric community. Its position within that community will be damaged if it forgets its role in humanity’s spiritual development.

I trust that you will reverse your policy using your legal resources to stop people using the phrase “The Rosicrucian Order” in their name, before your group becomes part of the problems of the 21st century rather than any solution.
Yours
